Caring for Your BrookeLynn's Home Barware Glass
BrookeLynn's Home barware glasses from Artistry in Pouring are handcrafted pieces designed to bring artisan beauty to every pour and gathering. Each glass is finished with a protective seal over all hand-painted, gilded, or etched exterior surfaces, enhancing the artistry and preserving the decorative detail. With a little care, your glass will maintain its clarity, color, and finish for years to come.
General Care & Cleaning
- Hand Wash Only (Required): These glasses must be hand washed only. Never place an Artistry in Pouring glass in the dishwasher — high heat, pressure, and harsh detergents will damage the decorative exterior finish and can compromise the integrity of the glass itself.
- Warm Water & Mild Soap: For the interior, use warm water and a small amount of mild, non-abrasive dish soap. Keep soap and water on the interior surface and away from prolonged contact with the decorated exterior.
- Soft Cloth or Sponge: Gently clean the interior with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Avoid harsh scrubbers, abrasive materials, or gritty cleaners, which can scratch both the glass and the exterior finish.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the interior completely with clean, warm water to remove all soap residue before drying.
- Dry Immediately: To prevent water spots and protect the exterior finish, dry immediately after washing with a lint-free cloth — microfiber works best. Wipe the exterior gently and ensure no moisture is left sitting against the decorated surface.
- Cleaning the Exterior: For routine exterior care, dust gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If needed, use a lightly dampened cloth and wipe gently — never soak, submerge, or run the exterior under water directly.
- Removing Water Spots from the Interior: If mineral deposits develop on the interior glass surface, use a gentle solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Apply briefly with a soft cloth or bottle brush, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and dry immediately. Do not allow this solution to contact the exterior finish.
Handling & Storage
- Handle with Care: Glass is fragile. Always handle your glass with care — especially when full or being moved from one surface to another.
- Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes: Sudden temperature shifts can stress both the glass and the exterior finish. Do not pour boiling or very hot liquids into a cold glass, and do not place glasses in the freezer. These pieces are designed for cold and room-temperature beverages only.
- Protect from Bumps & Knocks: Place your glass on a stable, level surface where it is unlikely to be bumped or tipped. The decorated exterior is sealed for durability, but direct impact can chip or crack both the glass and the finish.
- Never Stack: Do not stack glasses inside one another during storage or display. Stacking places direct pressure on the rim and exterior finish, which can lead to chipping, scratching, or wear on the decorative detailing over time.
- Storage: Store glasses upright in a secure location where they will not be easily knocked over. If storing with other items, wrap each glass individually in tissue paper or a soft cloth to protect the decorated exterior from scratches.
Important Considerations
- Interior is Beverage Safe: The interior of every Artistry in Pouring glass is uncoated glass and fully safe for cold and room-temperature beverages. All decorative finishes are applied to the exterior only.
- Sunlight Exposure: Display and store your glasses away from direct, prolonged sunlight. Extended UV exposure can cause hand-painted and gilded accents to fade over time, even beneath a protective seal.
- Exterior Finish Care: Avoid contact between the exterior finish and harsh chemicals, glass cleaners, alcohol, or ammonia-based products. These can dull the sealant and damage the artwork beneath.
- Condensation: During use, condensation may form on the outside of the glass. Wipe gently with a soft cloth rather than allowing moisture to sit against the exterior finish for extended periods.
By following these simple care instructions, your BrookeLynn's Home Artistry in Pouring glass will remain a beautiful, lasting part of your home and your table.
