Caring for Your BrookeLynn's Home Decorative Wooden Tray

BrookeLynn’s Home wooden trays from Artistry in Function are beautiful, functional pieces—perfect for both serving and display. Each tray is crafted from wood and finished with a resin-coated interior surface for a smooth, glass-like look. With proper care, your tray will maintain its finish and last for many years to come.

General Care & Cleaning

  • Hand Wash Only: We recommend hand washing all decorative and serving trays. Do not place them in the dishwasher, as heat and harsh detergents can damage the tray’s finish—especially the resin-coated interior—and may also warp the wood or cause cracking over time.
  • Warm Water & Mild Soap: Use warm water and a small amount of mild, non-abrasive dish soap.
  • Soft Cloth or Sponge: Gently clean the tray with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge. For corners or crevices, use a soft brush. Avoid harsh scrubbers, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the resin surface and dull its shine.
  • Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse away all soap residue. Avoid soaking the tray, as prolonged exposure to water can stress the wood.
  • Dry Immediately: To prevent water spots on the resin and to protect the wood from discoloration or warping, dry the tray completely with a lint-free cloth after washing. Allow it to air dry for a few minutes before storing.

Handling & Display

  • Protect the Resin Surface: Avoid placing sharp objects directly on the resin-coated interior, as this can cause scratches. Do not place hot pans, heated tools, or candles directly on the tray—high heat can damage the resin finish.
  • Use Coasters: For serving drinks, we recommend using coasters to prevent moisture rings and to keep the resin finish looking crystal-clear.
  • Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes: Do not move the tray from very cold to very hot environments (or vice versa). Sudden temperature shifts can stress both the wood and the resin coating.
  • Weight Limit: Do not overload the tray with heavy items. Keep weight evenly distributed to prevent strain on handles, joints, or the tray base.

Important Considerations

  • Wood & Finish Notes: Because the interior is resin-coated, do not oil or wax on the resin surface. If your tray includes uncoated wood areas (such as the underside or exterior sides), you may periodically condition those areas with a wood-safe product as needed—avoiding contact with the resin.
  • Not for Direct Food Contact (Unless Specified): Unless explicitly stated in the product description, our trays are not intended for direct food contact. We recommend using food-safe liners, or placing food in bowls/on plates before setting them on the tray.

By following these simple care instructions, your BrookeLynn’s Home tray will continue to be a beautiful and useful part of your home décor.
